Barnstaple, North Devon - home of The Cedars Big Band
The Cedars Big Band holds a monthly concert of live music at The Cedars Inn, Barnstaple, for listening and for dancing.
The Band plays predominantly swing music from the 30s, 40s and 50s – the great days of the
‘swing era’ – with many tunes from the ‘Great American Song Book’.
We play numbers made famous by Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton,
Ray Noble, Charlie Barnet, Benny Carter, Quincy Jones etc. etc., as well as earlier tunes such as
Bix Beidebecke’s lovely Davenport Blues and more recent material such as Spinning Wheel, Moondance, Superstition...
We also play arrangements with a Latin beat, such as Perfidia, Besame Mucho, The Girl From Ipanema.
This is great music for dancing as well as listening.
